Amidst upcoming Mayweather-McGregor tour, Filipino fans still want a Pacquaio vs. Mayweather re-match
Amidst the Floyd Mayweather vs. Connor McGregor world tour, which kicked off with a vicious war of words in front of thousands of fans at the Staples Center, boxing fans still want a Pacquiao vs Mayweather match.
Both fighters threw profanity-laced tirades at one another.
The fight comes as “Money Mayweather” faces off with the IRS over owed taxes.
In his verbal tirade against McGregor, the undefeated boxing champion flaunted a hundred million dollar check.
Mayweather is coming out of a two-year retirement to take on the UFC multi-weight champion, McGregor. This will be the Notorious One’s first professional boxing match.
While the two had to be separated during the face off, Filipino fight fans were excited to see the two champions square off in ring.
“I’m really excited for it. They say Mayweather is gonna have an onslaught with McGregor, but I’m hoping McGregor comes out with a win,” said Vincent Donato.
Some Filipino fight fans say they’d rather see a rematch with Manny Pacquiao — despite his controversial loss to Australian Jeff Horn earlier this month.
“Manny is stronger now, so I wanna see Mayweather-Pacquiao part two,” said Tony Garcia.
But some say a Pacquiao-Mayweather 2 would not be worth it.
“Their primes are done. That train already left the station,” said Donato. “I wouldn’t wanna see it again, especially if they jack up the price to $100 for a pay-per-view.”
But a second Pac-May fight may not materialize.
While the Pacman tweeted his intent to keep fighting, Mayweather reiterated that he will retire once again after this August 26th fight.
The 4 city tour now heads to Toronto, New York, and London.
Some of the early odds already have Money Mayweather as an 8-to-1 favorite over the UFC champion.
