Manhattan, NY- “The Congressman” is boxing champ Manny Pacquiao’s new moniker, as he promoted his title fight with Antonio Margarito in New York.

Pacquaio, who represents the province of Saranggani, said he will pass a bill to address the botched hostage rescue that resulted in the deaths of eight tourists.

“We’re planning to pass a bill that can help this incident,” said Pacquiao. “Iniimbistigahan natin kung kailangan ng reporma or training, or baguhin ang istilo ng ating mga kapulisan. (We will investigate if the police need reform or training to change their methods.)”

Filipino boxing fans believe that Pacquaio’s forthcoming title bout can help repair the Philippines’ reputation abroad, now damaged by the botched hostage crisis.
