SoCal man charged with hate crime against Filipino
Authorities in Orange County charged a man Thursday with a hate crime against a man of Filipino descent.
According to police, last Monday, September 4th, 41-year-old Tyson Theodore Mayfield of Fullerton, CA, allegedly became agitated with an unidentified Filipino and Turkish man, because he did not have lighter to borrow.
Mayfield, who has a swastika tattoo, allegedly went on to punch the victim multiple times and called him a racial slur.
While the Fullerton police department continues to investigate the case, Mayfield is scheduled for a pre-trial court hearing this Friday, September 15th.
