The Fiipino Channel’s float was a big hit at the Philippine Independence Parade in New York yesterday. Kapamilya stars Jericho Rosales and Karylle say they feel overwhelmed that so many Filipinos came to watch them perform.
Jericho said, “I almost cried because they knew the songs I sang, “Pusong Ligaw” and “Bumuhos man ang Ulan”. This is a different experience for me.”
Karylle said, “I was blown away by the reaction of the people.”
Meantime, in Las Vegas this weekend — thousands of Filipinos flocked to the 3rd Annual Fiesta Filipino held at the Boulevard Mall parking lot for a whole day of fun and entertainment.
International dance group sensation Jabbawockeez and Super Krew were a hit.
Boxing champ Nonito Donaire and his wife Rachel, who are now Las Vegas residents, were also crowd drawers.
In Vallejo, California last Saturday — despite the rain, hundreds of people gathered at the Mare Island for the Pista sa Nayon Festival…to get a taste of Filipino food and enjoy Filipino performances.
Cris Santos said, “Even with the rain, we’re here! We want to be with kababayans for Pista sa Nayon’s 25th anniversary!”
Fiestas are truly a way for Filipinos to get together and they intend to keep this tradition alive for many years to come.

The very reason why parades are held in NYC on Sundays is to avoid creating a big mess on weekdays where everybody’s going to and from work… are you even a New Yorker Kikay? LOL
