Los Angeles, CA – Filipino animator Joe Mateo received an award at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last Saturday. Mateo won in the category of “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation” for his work in Disney’s “Prep and Landing.” The Creative Emmy Awards honors technical achievement.
Another Filipino, former Eric Cruz was nominated as part of the Interactive Media team of nbc.com. “More people are becoming aware that Filipinos are talented–that they do have more than singing or acting ability,” said Cruz who himself is a former singer. “Here at the Creative Arts Emmys, it shows that we are talented in all aspects in the entertainment business.”
Hollywood celebrities came to show their support, among them Filipino American tween star Nicole Anderson, who is the leading lady of the show “Jonas” that features the Jonas Brothers. “Jonas” was nominated for Outstanding Children’s Program.
