Little Manila Center in Stockton vandalized on Fil-Am History Month
STOCKTON, CA — Amid the Filipino American History Month celebrations all over the country, kababayans from Stockton were shocked to find out that their Little Manila Center was vandalized.
This Facebook Live video taken by one of the members of Little Manila Center show some banners depicting images of Filipino immigrants was damaged.
There were also writings on the wall that said, “whiteys” and “brainwashed bigots.”
The Little Manila Foundation said some people from neighboring businesses attempted to stop a woman from defacing their center’s exterior, but she ran away. The interior of their center was not damaged.
Members of the community have started donating to Little Manila Foundation to help in the repair efforts.
The incident has also been reported to the police.
Authorities are looking into this as a possible hate crime.
