A Filipino woman with family ties in Chicago was shot and killed Sunday evening in Caldwell, Idaho following a reported dispute with her estranged husband. Caldwell is approximately 45 minutes west of Idaho’s state capitol of Boise.
Chris Allen Stone has been charged with second degree murder, after allegedly shooting Florence Madriñan-Stone twice in the head, according to a statement by Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney John T. Bujak.
On Sunday evening, Sheriff deputies reportedly responded to a call about a shooting incident. When police arrived, they saw Madriñan-Stone “slumped in the back of a mini-van in the driveway” of the residence.
Sheriff’s Captain Dana Maxfield described the death to Idaho news outlets as “a domestic situation that’s gone horribly wrong.”
Following his arrest, Stone reportedly gave conflicting information, as to the circumstances leading to the shooting.
While being treated at a local hospital, investigators said Stone claimed “self defense”. He said the victim stabbed him first in the stomach. That’s when he pulled out his pistol and allegedly fired two shots into the back of her neck.
Later, when police pointed out discrepancies in his story, police said Stone changed his statement. Stone then told police that his wife told him that she only married him for a green card. He said the statement “set him off” and he pulled out his gun.
The prosecutor told reporters: “Self defense is something that a judge or a jury is going have to take a look at. Because we’re talking about bullets shot to the back of the head; it’s difficult for me to claim self defense on those facts.”
Stone has been charged with second degree murder. If convicted, he could face a mandatory minimum 25 years, up to life in the Idaho State Penitentiary, the Idaho Press Tribune said. Stone is in police custody. His bond is set at $1 million, and he is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
According to a cousin and friend from Chicago, Madriñan-Stone had been living separately with her husband. they said said the couple were in the middle of a divorce. They had been married for more than ten years and have two children.
The victim, Madriñan-Stone is originally from Zamboanga del Norte, a southern Philippine province.
She is a 1994 graduate of Saint Vincent’s High School in Dipolog City, the provincial capital. She had several Chicago-area relatives, including her mother and an aunt.

Tandaan po lamang lalo na ang mga pinay na hindi lahat ng iyong mapapangasawa ay susunod sa gusto niyo lalo na kung tapos at sawa na sila sa butas niyo… think think, why this people want to marry a filipina after all those years they been aging, theres something wrong with this kind of person…it wont show it right away, it takes time until you live together in one roof. But not all of them are animal, few are good man…out of 100 there is 2% are real and lovable. Some pinay want to be success in easy way by marrying those strangers without knowing about them…sleeping with the enemy. The bottom line, girl change your thinking of easy way…instead of opening your legs to starngers so you can be rich quick (thats what you think), work harder and think wiser.

Floyd and Brad Greenwood…you’re not alone… I know someone who was able to feed her parasitic family by using several American guys… she has been receiving money from 3 different American guys since the early 2000s..one she met thru an asian dating site, one she met thru a friend, and the other one she claims was her pen pal… well, she ended up marrying this poor American war veteran that she met through a friend … after three months of marriage when she found out she won’t be able to squeeze more funds from her American husband to send to her family, she pretended she’d kill herself ..they had a terrible fight.. she escaped and asked the help of some filipinos and the poor American guy ended up in jail for one day for rape charges… she contacted the other two American guys and I don’t know what she told them but they sent her money… she was able to file for a work permit… after a few months, she’s back online, searching for another victim…and my! what a pro! she found one again, an owner of a company this time… the husband can actually file a case against her coz she is still legally married but she is going out with someone with a fatter wallet … I really can’t believe sometimes how she can sleep at night knowing that she has deceived a lot of people…and guess which province she is from?

To All people who said mean statements about Filipina women, all of your statements are stupid! How would you describe a husband who shots his wife? Killing his own wife tells us all that he is NOT a good husband at all. A good and loving husband makes the wife stick with him through thick and thin, but an irresponsible and bad husband loses his family. Just the fact that he shot his wife, show us all that he has been doing worse to her when they were together, that was why she decided to divorce him. First of all, money nor green card was not the issue here, because she belonged to a well-off family in Dipolog, she has uncles and aunties who are Doctors! She could have come to USA just to visit. Marrying her husband was NOT for green card because she could have gotten a green card using her own riches. And for you Mr. Jess! Filipino poeple are humble and respectful, they do not take advantage of others. my wife is pinay – gwapa, 15 years younger and no kids yet. been together almost 10 years, married 5 years. I am lucky so far. all around me my friends american and pinay wives are betraying them like flies… What makes it so difficult in the case of a pinay asawa vs us spouse is all the time, money, emotion and cultural sacrifices involved in being with a foreigner. It can all be worth it when things don’t fall apart but when they do it seems like they do for all the wrong reasons. I dont know what i would do in the same predicament…. but i know this much – with the way i feel about my asawa and what we’ve been thru to be together, i could not let her just turn her back on me just like that.. Not to mention divorce from a pinay is so contrary since we marry you because we know you dont believe in divorce and u supposed to be the most loyal… GOD bless!

BTW, I am in California, but I met my wife in the SAME town, and she went to a VERY nearby school. It must be on St. Vincent’s (and other Dipolog schools’) curriculum: “How to screw-over an naive American guy 101″. They grow them mean in Dipolog. This is not a big town… it shows me something about the quality of girls there. I wouldn’t have shot… it would have been to precious to see her go down for ADW or something more.

Its funny for a fillipina to demand the death penalty when there is no death penalty in the phillipines. justice is a muse . Where does one start, it would be pages and pages volume upon volume of the injustices that occur in the phillipines and plenty foreigner husbands patayed in the phillipines. its a trajedy all the way around but Americans aint crying about the lack of justice if this case was flip flopped it would be covered up At least Americans understand justice.
I know for a fact that many Philipina women have used Americans to get what they want, even having children to get here. I have a friend that married a young Philipina woman whom gave him two children and when she got to America she had a lover to come into their bed in front of him and told him she only wanted him for a green card and was going to leave him. She called the police and lied and said he choked her so that she could get away with a support form. She later on with the help of the man got into his bank accounts and transferred over 50,000 dollars to her bank account, but the man she was with only got to serve 1.5 years for that. She got nothing but yet she let the man have her ex-husbands passwords. She was in her thirties and he was in his seventies. This happens a lot with these women. They just use a man for what they can get from them, even framing them, it does not matter but to get what they want. Most never let the husband know what they talk about with their friends or family and constantly beg their husbands in many ways and forms to extort money to give to the family for various lies. I, for one, have known this for years. I am sure there are some decent Phiilipina women but hard to find. Mostly their minds are one minded together and most wait for an opportunity to do a fella in. Watch out men.

We are here in the U.S. working an honest job and we are very well educated and for some reason marriages don’t last then i guess it’s because one person involve in a relationship chooses to move on while the other can’t take it thus result to violence.

Self defense is the act of defending yourself from any physical harm…With this story presented the husband shot her wife to death…I think a deeper reason is behind the story unless the husband is in nature a violent person…Sometimes we can not control our emotions because of too much anger but it think a committed crime is a crime it self and with due process of law I hope this case will be resolved soon.
