Foreclosure Prevention Failing, Americans Unhappy with Congress

A new study shows President Obama’s foreclosure prevention plan is falling short of its promise.

In a report obtained by the Huffington Post, the Treasury Department says instead of reaching 75 percent of struggling homeowners, only one-third are benefitting from the loan modification program.

Some lawmakers are proposing writing down the principal mortgage permanently so that people can afford to pay their loans, but some argue that forgiving a portion of their loan lets people get away from taking responsibility for what they owe.
