A new Washington Post/ABC News poll says 65 percent of Americans favor financial reform, while 31 percent of oppose the reform.

Democrats in the Senate are moving forward with legislation to tighten financial regulations, but Republicans are united against the bill. The latest research shows that mortgage fraud reports increased by 7 percent last year. This is still an improvement from the 26 percent increase in 2008.

The LexisNexis Mortgage Asset Research Institute says, better reporting and tighter lending standards have helped drive down the number of fraud cases.

Some of the most common frauds include misrepresentation on applications, verifications of employment and credit reports.

More companies are planning to hire more employees and increase its payrolls, according to a new poll.

The National Association for Business Economics says the industry outlook for employment was improving, with more businesses planning to increase hiring. Most hiring is expected from the real estate, finance, and insurance industries.
